Interessanterweise stellen die Forscher\/innen Thomas Hoppe, Martina Rechbauer und Susann Sturm nach einer \u00dcberpr\u00fcfung der Komplexit\u00e4t der Steuersysteme in Deutschland und \u00d6sterreich fest, dass die Situation in vielen F\u00e4llen oft fast genau gleich ist, da die Steuersysteme beider L\u00e4nder h\u00e4ufig denselben Komplexit\u00e4tsgrad aufzeigen. In nur wenigen F\u00e4llen ist die Lage in dem jeweils anderen Land jedoch tats\u00e4chlich besser. Die Forscher\/innen argumentieren dementsprechend, dass beide L\u00e4nder Verbesserungspotenzial besitzen und dass sie demzufolge gewissenhaft auf ihren Nachbarn schauen und m\u00f6glicherweise ihr eigenes System \u00fcberpr\u00fcfen und aktualisieren sollten.
